These daylong events are intended to raise public awareness of the value of engaging a professional,
licensed funeral director. The Board of Directors of the Institute have pledged their support to the
events, as have the education committee. A member of the education committee will be in attendance at each event to explain the vital role they play in their in partnership with the Institute; focusing on student training and the
high calibre of the tutors and their work.
This project presents an exciting face-to-face opportunity for the Institute to demonstrate the benefit of membership to the individual, as well as the value presented to their clients, the public.
The roadshow campaign extends a warm imvitation to funeral directors, local ministers, celebrants,
bereavement officers, florists and any other funeral related suppliers to join us at the event.
On The Road – Sheffield 15 June 2010
The fourth Roadshow took the team to the shopping centre at Fargate, Sheffield on June 15th when the National President was joined by the second Vice President, Clive Kirk, and a member of the Education
Committee, Greg Reinch, and several members of the Institute.
On The Road – Newcastle 16 June 2010
50,000 people in one day!
Newcastle City Council and Newcastle NE1 Limited pulled out all of the stops to ensure that a red carpet welcome was waiting for National President, Ken Satterly and his road show. Thanks must go to Graham Cole, from Newcastle NE1 Limited for arranging the prime spot at very short notice, and to BIFD admin for attending to all of the necessary paperwork.
The weather was fantastic, and the BIFD trailer was cited in the busiest spot in the City, where on average 50,000 pass in the course of a day. Five Region B members turned out and your editor met up with Steve Cairnes, Gary Staker, Jonathan Ryland and Catherine Bush.
It was a huge encouragement to see just how many members of the public expressed an interest in education within the industry, and there were some who asked for details regarding tutors, as they felt they were at a stage where they fancied a change in career.
