Lesley Kirk		I am Lesley Kirk, the wife of your National President Clive Kirk. I became involved in the funeral industry when I was offered a secretarial post within the firm by whom Clive was employed at the time, this being in 1998. Having being previously frightened of everything regarding hospitals, illness and death there is no one more suprised than myself how much I love my job and everything that it entails. The department where I excel the most is chatting! I can easily converse with anyone, of any age and in any situtation and I am comfortable in any surroundings. Obviously this is an assett in my day to day job but I`m sure it will come in handy on many occasions whilst being First Lady of the BIFD as well.
Clive and myself purchased the business by whom we were employed in 2001 when the then owners decided to retire. We have moved forward a great deal during the last 11 years and will continue to do so in the future. Clive becoming National President is up there with my proudest moments and I am behind him every step of the way. This reason is the main one why I decided to offer to become a Journal Editor for 12 months. There was no way I was going to see Clive`s year blighted by the fact that the Institute had no publication for the members and students. Thankfully David Gresty offered to help me and together we make a great team.
